Physical laboratory

This laboratory includes in addition to standard equipment for checking physical properties (dynamometers, etc.), a set of hi-tech equipment (granulometer, capillary electrophoresis) dedicated to routine measurement of the raw materials, semi-finished and end products. Specific tests and equipment to verify and demonstrate G-VIR®'s performance are developed, such as:

    - automated equipment which simulates the action of a needle-stick with very high reproductibility.

    - a device which enables accurate estimation of the amount of antimicrobial liquid deposited on a needle during a simulated percutaneous injury. The measurement is performed using a capillary electrophoresis apparatus.

Biological laboratory

This laboratory is dedicated to evaluating the glove's biological performance, i.e. an in vitro determination of the reduction in viral load based on the Type 1 herpes simplex (HSV1) model.

The lab meets Level 2 confinement requirements.

It is also used for development activities and routine analysis for the two types of test performed:

- measurement of the reduction in viral load following a simulated percutaneous injury. These needle-sticks are performed semi-automatically using a machine which allows very fine control of the operating conditions (speed, angle and depth of sticking; film tension, etc.).

- evaluation of the barrier effect during a simulated mucous membrane/skin exposure. These tests are performed using a HSV1 model and according to a protocol similar to that described in the ASTM 1671-97 standard.

No animal testing is performed in this laboratory.
